Daniel David, a famous at the end of 70s producer, songwriter and singer from Frankfurt, worked with Thomas in 1980-81.

After Thomas (aka Bernd Weidung) had won "Radio Luxemburg" music competition (a highly noted and respected for new young artists in those days) in 1979, he was offered a recording deal. At the contest he met Peter Crab (who became his manager later) who introduced him to Daniel David.

In early 1980, Thomas was signed to CBS. Daniel David recorded with Thomas and produced the song "Judy" (a German version of Randy Vanwarmer’s hit "Call Me"), and released it as a 7" single. Later this year another single "Du weinst um ihn" followed, Thomas went on tour across the Germany with "Tommi's Teen Rock Show" and provided 2 tracks for the LP of that show as well.

In 1981 Thomas had his debut on TV in the show "Hatten sie heut' Zeit für uns", where he performed the song "Du weinst um ihn", and one more single "Es war die Nacht der ersten Liebe" was released which was also produced by Daniel David.

In 1982 D. David helped Thomas to sign a contract with Hansa and introduced him to other producers (Bernd Dietrich & Gerd Grabowski, later of Silent Circle fame).

So Daniel became the very first Thomas’ producer, who "open" his talent for the wider auditorium (but not Dieter Bohlen, as most people might think).
